Tumblelog

I find Aaron Draplin’s blunt remarks about life and its issues like sweet 1UP finds in our mostly politically correct society. These “redesign options for the BP corporation” might draw a chuckle out of most people but they’re pretty powerful images to me. They feed on the original logo’s effective resemblance of a sunflower (originally meant to represent BP’s “interest in alternative and environmentally friendly fuels”.) and peal back to uncover the true face of the corporation. Filthy, filthy.

Cornelia Hesse-Honegger
Cornelia Hesse-Honegger, scientific illustrator and science artist, was born in 1944 in Zurich, Switzerland. For 25 years she worked as a scientific illustrator for the scientific department of the Natural History Museum at the University of Zurich. Since 1969 she has collected and painted leaf bugs, Heteroptera. Her watercolors are exhibited internationally at museums and galleries. Her work is an interface between art and science; it plays witness to a beautiful but endangered nature. Since the catastrophe of Chernobyl in 1986, she has collected, studied and painted morphologically disturbed insects, which she finds in the fallout areas of Chernobyl as well as near nuclear installations. As a result of her studies, she is convinced that in regions where the radioactive fallout from Chernobyl, or from normally working nuclear power plants, hits ground, the vegetation is contaminated, and a certain percentage of the insects, like leaf bugs, become morphologically disturbed.(via Cornelia Hesse-Honegger)
One of the most incredible things I have discovered. Be sure to go through each study and read the stories. Absolutely amazing.

Student Work – Swann Marchon
I love how beautiful this design is but as one of the comments states – it’s not very sustainable. What happens when you’re out of pretty white pencils? Buy more?

Hey Tumblr followers! So I was contacted by the awesome guys at Mojo Themes last month and was invited to the developer beta. It’s pretty cool, especially from a developer’s standpoint. Uploading themes is easy and fair – a great experience so far.
Then I took some time to develop an exclusive theme that’s now on sale for $14. You get a sweet (and customizable) theme, a PSD with some free custom icons, and a direct support line to me. Check out LIMON live and purchase it here!
