jacobbijani:
Most recent MINDF**K: double click a resize handler in InDesign to auto-fit the text box to its contents in that direction.
InDesign is one of those programs that never ceases to surprise me.

Hang it!

With hanging punctuation the flow of text on the left hand side is uninterrupted. The bullets, glyphs or numbers sit in the gutter to highlight the list. This representation of a list is more sophisticated visually and more legible.

I’ve been using Photoshop for over 10 years now. During my earlier years some of the built in features we take for granted today (like layers) were not available yet, and as a result I developed some really strange and convoluted ways of doing some very basic things. Like making shapes.

Tut:

  1. With the shape tool selected, click on the little triangle in the tool options palette.
  2. Select the checkbox that says “Snap to Pixels.”
  3. Punch yourself [in the face] for not discovering this years ago.

This is cool. You probably knew about this already but I didn’t know each selector had a numeric value attached to it that would allow it to take precedence (or otherwise). Cool!
